South Caswell Concept Plan →

biggerthanthesound:

City of Saskatoon South Caswell Concept Plan, to be implemented in the next five to ten years. The plan covers the proposed infill of the transit building and site when it moves locations, ensuring that the neighbourhood is not left with an undesirable vacant lot. It also covers the needs of the neighbourhood, such as more park space, safer pedestrian and bike areas, lowering traffic by closing some through streets to 22nd, and providing affordable housing while keeping the neighbourhoods historical feel.

I am a huge fan of the Local Area Plans (LAPs) that the city has been releasing in the last few years. It excites me that there are people working for our city that understand and feel the need for the infill of core neighbourhoods. This affects my directly, as Caswell Hill is my neighbouring community, and gives people more of an incentive to move to our areas. Not only from selfish reasons, such as the increasing value of my own property, but also just from the point of view of keeping mature areas clean and prosperous. It can be really easy to lose these neighbourhoods to crime and residents who have little community desire.

Thanks for posting this, Sarah.  I was aware of the plan, but hadn’t read it yet.  The original survey was posted online in the first month that we lived in the area.

Caswell Hill treated us well, and I’m excited to watch this develop!

BTW, did you see the concept plan that included a grow-op and seniors’ strip club?
